Managing Stress and Pressure - 17th July 2019

This one-day workshop is designed to demonstrate how to effectively identify and manage the impact of stress and pressure in the workplace. A mixture of direct teaching, interactive sessions and group discussions will be used to help delegates to fully demonstrate their learning. 

Using practical activities to relate the subject matter to their own situations so delegates take away tools and actions they can immediately implement.

This course will cover the following areas: 

  • Define what stress and pressure is and why they occur
  • Identify own stressors and how they affect you
  • Learn two types of strategy to reduce stress and develop resilience
  • Practice techniques to handle stress positively, thereby reducing its impact on performance
  • Recognise and manage stress in others

Course Content  

  • Identify stressors in the workplace
  • The main factors that moderate the impact of a stressor on an individual, and how these can help us to increase our resilience to stressful events
  • Recognise our own stress signals
  • Assess two strategies for dealing with stress – problem focused and emotion focused strategies and how they can be applied in the work place
  • Types of control in handling stress positively and healthy and unhealthy coping styles
  • Practice a relaxation technique
  • Management Standards for workplace stress - How to recognise and manage stress in others
  • Core management competencies that help reduce or prevent work place stress
  • Work/life balance – The Wheel of Life by Dr Steven Covey (1980) which aims to set goals in certain areas of your life where you need to achieve more balance
  • How time affects our feelings of stress and how we can manage our time more productively – a look at traditional and more modern techniques to managing our time

The course will be delivered by a PTLLS qualified Managing Stress and Pressure trainer

Location – Epsilon House. On arrival please report to Reception. Car parking is available. Refreshments and Lunch will be provided. 

Duration – 8:45am registration for 9:00am start until 4:30pm. Refreshments and Lunch will be provided. 

Cost – £140 +VAT per person includes refreshments, lunch and competency certificate.
